1. Position your right hand so it looks like the photo below.
2. Hold your headphone earbuds against your palm with your third and fourth fingers.
3. Begin to wrap the cable using a figure eight around your second and fifth fingers. The cris-crossing (a common technique in knitting) is the key factor in making sure the cable doesn’t knot.
4. With about seven inches left, begin wrapping the cable around the center of the figure eight that you’ve created.
5. The remaining portion can be easily tucked in one of the loops.
This technique works regardless of how tight you wrap the cable. With a loose wrap, simply pulling the cable will release the entire headphones without a single knot. The advantage of a tighter wrap is that the cable has less of a chance of unwinding while being stored.
